FAQ
There's no visible effect after installation, is it not working?
This plugin is a "settings page container" type plugin: after installation it won't change the conversation experience itself. It only adds three sections to the DSH settings page: "Web UI Plugin", "Persona Settings", and "About". To see other plugins it carries (like dashboard, skins), you need to install the dsh-web-ui-all aggregated package or other family packages at the same time.
Is the persona enabled after installation? How to turn it off or rewrite it?
By default, the "Xiao Mi" catgirl persona is enabled (responds in Xiao Mi's identity for every conversation). Open the DSH settings page "Persona Settings" section, turn off the top switch to disable, or edit the content and click "Save" to override immediately, no restart needed.
Where is the persona saved after submission? Why does it take effect immediately in conversation?
When saving, it writes to ~/.dsh/persona.json, and at the same time generates a skill file at ~/.dsh/skills/catgirl-rp/SKILL.md. The DSH skill system (dsh-skill-filesystem) hot-loads this skill, and all new conversations automatically apply it. When disabled, SKILL.md is renamed to SKILL.md.disabled instead of being deleted, and restoring it will re-enable the persona.
Where does the version number displayed in "About" come from? Why does it sometimes show "Unknown"?
When the plugin starts, it reads its own package.json to get the current version, and on each request it goes to npm registry to fetch the latest version of @captain1275/dsh-web-ui-all for comparison. If it fails to get a response within 8 seconds, it's considered as not found (latest is null), and the frontend will display "Unknown". This doesn't affect usage, only the update prompt.
Can this plugin be used on desktop/CLI version?
No, it cannot. It declares platform: web in package.json#dsh.client.platform, and only injects into the Web settings page. The DSH desktop client uses a different UI, requiring the dsh-web-ui-settings package from the corresponding branch.
