One-Line Pitch

deepseek-ippt is iPolloWork's native "slides" plugin for the DeepSeek Harness, adding a PPT view to conversations where AI can directly generate complete presentations, or perform element-level Ask AI on selected slides or individual elements. The final editable HTML/CSS and design tokens land in the workspace directory design/<sessionId>-ippt/.

Core Capabilities

  • Adds a PPT view to Harness conversations (label PPT, alongside iDesign's Design view), allowing page-by-page preview and editing within this view
  • AI generates narratives, pages, or full presentations directly in conversation, with element-level Ask AI support (select element, fill in draft, user sends)
  • 6 curated slide templates (4 HTML Anything series + 2 native editable PPTX), template market only displays slides, no websites/posters/videos mixed in
  • Page-by-page preview + direct element editing: text, images, layout, colors, positioning, and visual styles all adjustable on canvas
  • Shared iPolloWork design token system: unified color, font, background, border-radius, shadow, and spacing management via design-tokens.css, editing theme updates entire PPT synchronously
  • Export to PDF and PPTX (PPT view built-in jsPDF, html2canvas, pptxgen, JSZip; native PPTX template exports remain editable in PowerPoint)
  • Save with baseUpdatedAt conflict detection + atomic replacement, template application validates in isolated directory before atomic replacement, restores old project on failure

Technical Implementation

  • Language: TypeScript (sub-package type: module, main source in source/plugins/deepseek-ippt/src/, build output in packages/deepseek-ippt/lib/); Studio side uses React 18 + Vite 6 + Tailwind CSS v4
  • Key Dependencies: @deepseek-ai/cordis, @deepseek-ai/dsh-host-webserver, @deepseek-ai/dsh-workspace, @deepseek-ai/dsh-client-runtime, @deepseek-ai/dsh-client-ui-conversation, react 18.2 (all optional peer dependencies); runtime only uses Node built-ins node:crypto / node:fs / node:fs/promises / node:path / node:url
  • Architecture Pattern: DSH adapter plugin — cordis.patch.yml inserts Cordis plugin id: ipollowork-ppt-studio into host; client.tsx uses ctx.slots.inject("conversation.view") to mount PPT view component into Harness conversation; index.ts uses ctx.webServer.register({ kind: "prefix", path: "/ipollowork-ppt" }) to mount Studio static resources and /ipollowork-ppt/api/* endpoints to Harness built-in web server
  • Entry Files: source/plugins/deepseek-ippt/src/index.ts (server-side, reuses createDeepSeekDesignStudioPlugin factory from source/shared/design-studio/src/index.ts, passing mode: "slides", routeRoot: "/ipollowork-ppt", studioTitle: "DeepSeek iPPT", defaultTemplateId: "ipollowork.deepseek-harness.ppt", projectSuffix: "-ippt"), client entry source/plugins/deepseek-ippt/src/client.tsx, compiled to packages/deepseek-ippt/lib/index.js and packages/deepseek-ippt/lib/client.js respectively

Use Cases

Workers who want to create a presentation directly in Harness conversations and then fine-tune details page by page, such as product/operations for pitch decks, technical reports, quarterly reviews, external promotional pages; also for users who want AI-generated PPTs that can be both modified by AI and directly opened in PowerPoint for continued editing. The design/<sessionId>-ippt/ directory is isolated from iDesign's design/<sessionId>/, both can be installed in the same workspace without overwriting each other.

Prerequisites and Compatibility

DependencyMinimum VersionNotes
DSH>=0.0.1-rc.1 and <0.2.0-0, dev locked to 0.1.0-rc.6package.json#peerDependencies declares @deepseek-ai/dsh-host-webserver, @deepseek-ai/dsh-client-runtime, @deepseek-ai/dsh-client-ui-conversation, @deepseek-ai/dsh-workspace need this range (package.json:51-58), dev dependencies actually locked to 0.1.0-rc.6 (package.json:81-84)
Node.js^22.19.0 or >=24.0.0Sub-package package.json has no engines field; follows parent repository README.md:74 declaration; @types/node devDep locked to 25.6.0 (package.json:86)
React^18.2.0Provided by Harness host, listed in peerDependencies (package.json:57)
PlatformCross-platform (macOS / Windows / Linux)package.json has no os/cpu restrictions; client uses iframe + sandbox attribute for isolation (lib/client.js:103)
Native ModulesNoneRuntime only uses Node built-in modules (lib/index.js:1-5), installation won't pull sharp/onnxruntime-node etc. precompiled binaries
Browser RuntimeChromium (provided by Harness host)Studio is browser-based React/Vite app (packages/deepseek-ippt/studio/dist/), plugin doesn't bundle browser binary

Configuration

ConfigTypeDescriptionDefault
No additional config needed—cordis.patch.yml reads no fields; createDeepSeekDesignStudioPlugin only receives construction parameters at compile time (mode/routeRoot/studioTitle/defaultTemplateId/projectSuffix, already hardcoded to slides / /ipollowork-ppt / DeepSeek iPPT / ipollowork.deepseek-harness.ppt / -ippt). All runtime interactions (workspace ID, session ID, template ID, selection context) passed via URL query parameters and PostMessage between Studio and Harness—

FAQ

Q: What's the relationship between this plugin and deepseek-design?

A: It's the "slides" branch of the deepseek-design suite, specifically adding a PPT view for Harness conversations. Three sibling plugins iDesign/iPPT/iVideo are independently installed with isolated directories (design/<sessionId>/, design/<sessionId>-ippt/, video/<sessionId>/), you can install just this one.

Q: Will installing it also download the iPolloWork desktop app or iVideo?

A: No. The npm package includes Studio browser resources (packages/deepseek-ippt/studio/dist/ and lib/client.js), it doesn't download the iPolloWork desktop app or load iVideo or iDesign; the install command only pulls this plugin.

Q: Where do the actual files land, can I continue editing manually?

A: They land in the Harness workspace under design/<sessionId>-ippt/, as real HTML, CSS design tokens, and manifest.json files, not a cloud-closed canvas; you can edit these files with any editor, or have AI continue modifying them through conversation.

Q: What templates are included?

A: 6 curated slide templates: Knowledge Arch Blueprint (tech style), Hermes Cyber Terminal Deck, Presenter Mode Deck, Pastel Slow-life Deck, Morrow Brand Narrative (PPTX editable), iPollo VI Enterprise Presentation (38-page native editable PPTX).

Q: Can it export PDF/PPTX?

A: Yes. Studio has built-in jsPDF, html2canvas, pptxgen, and JSZip; PPT view supports both PDF and PPTX export; PPTX templates marked "native-editable" remain editable in PowerPoint after export.

Q: Does Ask AI automatically send messages?

A: No. Ask AI only assembles "target element + file path + CSS positioning + current styles (text/alt/src truncated to 240 chars)" into a draft filled into the current conversation, user must click send to submit, the plugin also doesn't auto-execute any tool calls.

Q: Will saving overwrite my manual edits?

A: No. Text writing carries baseUpdatedAt conflict check — returns 409 if file was modified externally since last read, letting user refresh before saving; writing uses temp file + rename for atomic replacement, avoiding half-written state. Template application also validates in isolated directory before atomic replacement, restores old project on failure.

Q: Can PPT view and Design view be used simultaneously?

A: Yes. The two views are independently registered (viewId: "ipollowork-ppt-studio" vs ipollowork-design-studio), and project directories are design/<sessionId>-ippt/ and design/<sessionId>/ respectively, they don't overwrite each other; just install both deepseek-idesign and deepseek-ippt.

Learning Curve

Beginner — just click PPT view in a new conversation to start using it; common flow is "AI generates outline/draft → fine-tune page by page in Studio or Ask AI to modify elements → export PDF/PPTX"; to fully leverage selection context, design tokens, and manifest schema, you'll need to read the iPolloWork main repository and sub-package READMEs.

Known Issues and Limitations

  • DSH still in developer preview: Harness major version and plugin peer range (>=0.0.1-rc.1 <0.2.0-0) are relatively wide; when DSH upgrades to the next major version, this plugin needs revalidation (README.md:76-77)
  • Strong constraints on path writing: Written paths must fall within workspace design/ prefix, symlinks cannot escape workspace, relative paths containing .. or absolute paths return 400/403; this means "moving projects across workspaces" will be rejected as-is (lib/index.js:3889-3917)
  • Generated output cannot be directly modified in packages/: Repository uses iPolloWork upstream sync model, packages/ is build output, should modify source/plugins/deepseek-ippt/ and submit PR, upstream merges and syncs back (source/README.md:1-7)
  • Per-process Studio tokens cannot be reused across processes: Process-level random base64url token expires, all API requests return 401, restart Harness to fix (lib/index.js:4167, 3899-3901)
  • iDesign/iVideo close same token channel in Studio path: This plugin's server uses x-ipollowork-design-token header to validate Studio iframe; iDesign/iVideo in same process reuse same host channel and token protocol, no conflict but also no independent keys (lib/index.js:3899-3901, source/shared/design-studio/src/bridge.ts:3-16)
