Install via your agent

Install the DeepSeek Harness plugin Gin-7/dsh-pet-remielle for me: review the repository at https://github.com/Gin-7/dsh-pet-remielle first, then run the install command and verify the plugin loads successfully.

Paste this instruction to the DSH Web GUI assistant — it will install and verify for you.

One-Line Description

Raise a Remielle animated desktop pet in the DSH (DeepSeek Harness) web page. It switches stickers in real-time based on your conversation stage and displays status bubbles. Optionally, you can "invite" the pet out of the web page as a transparent always-on-top floating window on the Windows desktop.

Core Features

  • Switch stickers based on real DSH conversation events: thinking, output, tool calling, waiting for confirmation, error and other stages correspond to different GIF animations
  • Show status bubbles above the pet, containing project name, stage, and task progress (completed x/y)
  • When multiple Sessions run simultaneously, display the session requiring most attention based on priority: "waiting for confirmation > error > working > thinking > idle"
  • Built-in multi-pet registry, can enable/disable/rename/switch current displayed pet image
  • Real-time status push via SSE, automatic reconnection on disconnect, polling fallback when necessary
  • Optional desktop floating window (Windows x64): Electron transparent always-on-top window, double-click "artwork" pops up in screen top-right corner as separate small window
  • Plugin built-in version checking and one-click update, HTTP proxy fallback for CN network cross-access
  • Settings page provides multiple tabs (Appearance / Behavior / Desktop Floating / Update / Feedback)

Technical Implementation

  • Language: JavaScript (Node ESM, browser-side also JS)
  • Key Dependencies: @deepseek-ai/schemastery (setting configuration schema), @deepseek-ai/cordis (DSH plugin host), @deepseek-ai/dsh-client-ui-settings-plugins (client UI injection points)
  • Architecture Pattern: Cordis plugin host, listens to session/event + session/disposed global event bus, pure function PetReducer reduces to structured messages, then exposes to browser via webServer loopback HTTP endpoints (/config /state /stream /pets /assets /pet-view /desktop /check /update /info); client code injected by build script after version number injection, packaged as lib/client.js
  • Entry File: src/index.js (host-side, exports name / apply / Config); browser-side entry is built artifact lib/client.js

Use Cases

When running long tasks with DSH, you want to perceive progress without staring at the web page — glance at the pet sticker in the screen corner to know if AI is still thinking, stuck, or waiting for your confirmation. Also adds companionship to DSH web page/desktop, suitable for users who like cell-shaded/anime-style desktop pets but don't want to install standalone desktop pet software.

FAQ

Q: Pet not showing after installation?

A: Enabled by default. If "Enable pet" was turned off in settings, re-enable it; or re-check "Enable" in Settings → Remielle Pet in DSH web page top-right corner.

Q: What's the difference between desktop floating window and in-page pet?

A: Desktop floating is an independent transparent always-on-top window (Windows x64 only, requires Electron runtime), double-clicking "artwork" from painting pops up in a separate small window in the top-right corner; in-page pet is embedded in DSH web page, available cross-platform.

Q: What gets downloaded on first enable of desktop floating mode?

A: Downloads approximately 200MB of Electron runtime (only win32-x64). A confirmation prompt appears before downloading; failure automatically falls back to in-page display, no impact on other features.

Q: Will sub-agent status be reflected by the pet?

A: Not by default. Check "Allow sub-agents to compete for pet status" (includeSubagents) in settings to include sub-agents in status summary.

Q: Why can't old versions update directly?

A: Package name changed before 0.3.0 (before 0.2.0 it was @dsh-external/dsh-client-ui-pet-remielle, between 0.2.0–0.3.0 it was dsh-pet-remielle). Direct overlay upgrade triggers load errors; need to uninstall old version first then install new version.

Q: How to change pet image?

A: Place 6 stickers named 01.gif–06.gif (and optional pics/01.png etc. artwork) into assets/pets// directory, then go to Settings → Pet Management → Appearance to enable and set as current pet.

Q: What does status bubble "project · completed x/y · stage" display?

A: Comes from real-time DSH session events: project name from session header or working directory; progress counts completed items in current todo list; stage mapped from tool type (search/edit/test/command).

Q: Which features are available on macOS/Linux?

A: In-page pet, SSE push, multi-pet switching, double-click painting, all settings available; desktop floating window not provided, automatically falls back to in-page display.

Difficulty Level

Beginner — Plug-and-play after installation, default configuration shows pet; run through one session in DSH web page to understand sticker and bubble meanings.

Known Issues & Limitations

  • package.json declares os: ["win32"], cpu: ["x64"], meaning some DSH installation forms may not load this plugin in non-Windows/x64 environments; in-page pet itself is cross-platform, limited by this declaration.
  • First enable of desktop floating mode requires downloading ~200MB Electron runtime; offline/sandbox environments need to pre-extract Electron win32-x64 to vendor/electron-win32-x64/, or set DSH_PET_ELECTRON environment variable pointing to existing electron.exe.
  • Installations below version 0.3.0 cannot incrementally update (package name changed twice), must uninstall old version first then install new; plugin's "one-click update" button gives uninstall/reinstall guidance for low versions instead of direct overlay.
  • Desktop floating window only supports Windows x64; enabling desktopMode on macOS/Linux won't error but only keeps in-page pet, won't actually spawn independent window.
